Mary Lou Butler, Ph.D.

Dr. Butler was the president of Southwestern College from 1996-2006. She joined the College in 1984 as a faculty member and served as academic vice president, clinical supervisor of the Southwestern Counseling Center and coordinator of the College's accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. President Butler has a long and distinguished career in higher education and counseling psychology. A graduate of Temple University in education and psychology, she holds an M.A. in counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Arizona State University. She is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in counselor education and supervision, psychotherapy and higher education administration.
