Certificate Admissions

Southwestern College has certificate programs that provide special training in the field of counseling. Each program has an admissions application and specific requirements for entry. To review program admissions requirements click on the program of your choice.

Grief, Loss and Trauma Certificate Program

To apply for admission to the Grief, Loss and Trauma Certificate Program, students must have a Bachelor's degree or consent from the program director. To obtain a certificate at the completion of the program, students must successfully complete ten weekends of the program and register for either CEUs or quarter units for each block.

Students may take up to three classes before submitting an application for a certificate. Application requirements for a certificate are an application, a $25 application fee, three confidential recommendations, a transcript with Bachelor’s award, and an interview with the program director.  Accepted degree students are not required to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts.

Psychodrama and Action Methods Certificate Program

Enrollment in the certificate program is not required for participation in psychodrama and action methods classes or trainings. PDAM seminars are available for CEU credit for professionals and graduate level students. To learn more about registering for a course or applying for the program contact 1-877-471-5756 ext. 26.

To qualify for national certification with The American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy, a student must hold a Master's degree in an area of health, education or social sciences, or be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in one of these areas or have the permission of the program director. To earn a graduate certificate, participants must complete 200 hours of coursework.

To apply for the certificate program, prospective students must complete a certificate application and submit a $25 application fee. Three letters of reference and a transcript with the Bachelor’s degree award is also needed.  Accepted degree students are not required to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts.

Transformational Ecopsychology Certificate Program

Enrollment in the Certificate Program is not required for participation in a designated TEP class. Students may choose to attend 3 courses in the program prior to submitting an application.

To qualify for the program, a participant must hold a bachelor’s degree or receive consent from the program director. To apply, submit a certificate program application to the admissions office with a $25 application fee, three letters of reference and a transcript to show successful completion of a bachelor’s degree. All applicants are also interviewed by the program director.  Accepted degree students are not required to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts.

Although financial aid is not available for the certificate program, current degree students may be able to pay for a portion of this coursework as it overlaps the masters program required coursework.


Integral Somatic Psychology Certificate Program

Enrollment in the Certificate Program is not required for participation in a class. Students may choose to attend 3 courses in the program prior to submitting an application.

To qualify for the program, a participant must hold a bachelor's degree or receive consent from the admissions director.

To apply, submit a certificate program application to the admissions office with a $25 application fee, three letters of reference and a transcript to show successful completion of a bachelor's degree. All applicants are also interviewed by the admissions director. Current SWC degree students do not need to submit letters of reference or transcript. To earn a graduate certificate, participants must complete 200 hours of coursework.
