The field of art therapy is rapidly growing and, as a result, many counselors and social workers are taking the opportunity to expand their skills in this richly rewarding area of study and practice. Southwestern College has offered art therapy programs since 1992. We are committed to providing a holistic, experiential and creative approach in education that enables students to have transformational experiences in their learning.

Students with a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work or a related field who meet the admissions criteria may enroll in the art therapy certificate program. Those who do not meet the above criteria to qualify for the certificate program may consider applying for the MA in Art Therapy program.

As an American Art Therapy Association (AATA) approved program, certificate graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB). Admissions requirements for the Certificate Program in Art Therapy can be reviewed at our online Admissions Office link for Certificate Programs.
