Amber is an art therapist and counselor in private practice in Santa Fe, NM. Her work involves using a blend of talk therapy, customized art experiences and body-centered mindfulness exercises. Her areas of specialty include addiction, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relational dynamics, PTSD and complex trauma, parenting, sexuality and women’s issues.
Before entering into private practice full-time, Amber was an art therapist serving the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos at Circle of Life Behavioral Health in Espanola, NM. There she worked with individuals, groups, couples, families and children, providing a wide range of behavioral health support services in residential, in-patient and out-patient settings.
In her previous career, Amber enjoyed life as a full-time professional artist with a focus on figurative sculpture and photography. She had the good fortune of learning with several accomplished artists who produced bronze and cast-glass sculpture, black and white film photography and functional, fabricated steel. In addition to her Masters in Art Therapy & Counseling, Amber also has a BFA in Studio Arts/Sculpture.
When not in the studio or in the kitchen, Amber enjoys spending time with her son, friends, and family, gathering around the kitchen table for delicious creations and rousing conversation. She also enjoys her daily yoga practice, learning Korean Martial Arts (Tang Soo Do), playing the guitar and writing.
