Belonging, unity, creativity, and community- this is what the Art Hive at Southwestern College is all about.
“An Art Hive is a community art studio that welcomes everyone as an artist.
From an art pop-up in a local library to a community studio or gallery, at its heart, an Art Hive is about inclusion, respect and learning.
It’s a welcoming place to talk, make art and build communities. Responding in creative ways to things that matter.” –The J. W. McConnell Family Foundation
The SWC Art Hive is buzzing every Thursday from 12-1:30pm for the remainder of the Fall 2015 quarter, though the day and time may change next quarter. Our hope is to bridge the gap between counseling students and art therapy students, first years and second years, students and staff.
There are snacks and beverages offered with a vast array of art materials available. Some of the most meaningful art experiences that I have had in a long time happened in the Art Hive. There is great company with a warm, sweet, and joyful energy in the space. Every member of the Southwestern body has something valuable and unique to offer this community. We hope to share, grow, and love together- so come to the Art Hive! You “beelong” here!
