It is time for Thanksgiving and I am so glad for this holiday. And yet I would like to take the word “time” out of the equation and practice giving thanks everyday of my life. There is so much to be thankful for each day. I would say if I were to choose a guru, I would want it to be “Gratitude.” How often I forget to be thankful for the small things in my life as well as the bigger things. I would like to create more of a mindful practice with gratitude.
I know that the practice of gratitude has shifted me from being grumpy and frustrated to a clearer place. I know that when I am feeling like a “victim,” gratitude for anything in my life can shift my perspective, and I feel more empowered. Thanksgiving reminds us of what we have and what we can give others. Beginning today I give myself a new thanksgiving practice everyday.
