- Nick Franco, Ph.D.
Nick is a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategist with over ten years of experience in higher education. Originally from Stockton, CA, Nick has earned degrees in social work (BA, Sacramento State), women’s studies (MA, San Diego State), and organizational leadership (PhD, University of San Diego). Their dissertation explored the minority resource eligibility of mixed- race college students — something Nick navigated as a college student themself.
Throughout Nick’s career, they have directly served and advocated for minoritized college student populations, led assessment efforts related to diversity and inclusion, and prompted institutional changes that supported student inclusion and belonging. Nick has also taught university courses in intercultural communication and leadership, introductory statistics, integrating theory with practice, and adaptive leadership.
In or outside the classroom, in group or individual settings, Nick specializes in holding space for the learning edges of professionals on their journey to expanding their capacity for cultural humility and ambiguity. When not caught up in “busyness,” Nick enjoys audiobooks, playing volleyball competitively, and anything related to figure skating.
