Laura Lansrud-López brings a rich and diverse professional background to her role as a mentor faculty, with experience spanning forensic sciences, crisis intervention, behavioral health, clinical supervision, and higher education. She holds a Master of Science in Forensic Sciences from the George Washington University, a Master of Arts in Art Therapy/Counseling from Southwestern College, and a Ph.D. in Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
Licensed to practice therapy in New Mexico (LPCC, LPAT), Virginia (LPC), and Maryland (LCPAT), Laura is also nationally credentialled in art therapy (ATR-BC), counseling (NCC), and clinical supervision (ATCS, ACS).
As an educator, supervisor, and mentor, Laura has taught graduate Art Therapy and Counseling courses online and in person at Southwestern College and The George Washington University, developed continuing education workshops for licensed professionals, and supervised clinicians nationwide.
A passionate advocate for equity, Laura grounds her work as an educator and supervisor in culturally responsive, decolonizing, and transformative learning approaches. She seeks to empower learners and clients to bring their whole selves, cultural histories, creative voices, unique perspectives, and lived experiences into the room and to the conversation.
Her doctoral research explored the intersecting identities of artist, researcher, teacher, and therapist through an innovative arts-based narrative methodology. Her central inquiry posed the question: “What is the experience of transformation through imaginal knowing in counseling education?” This work reflects her commitment to honoring and co-creating knowledge with others whose identities and lived experiences inform their journey toward transformation.
