Julia Volonts is a Licensed Art Therapist, Fulbright Alumna, and Founder of Art Therapy Lab, which offers community-based art therapy programs in virtual and community spaces to promote accessibility, creativity, and engagement through the arts.
As an art psychotherapist, she specializes in helping adults with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions through a combination of creative arts and talk therapy. Her approach emphasizes self-compassion and personal awareness, aiming to empower clients to reshape their narratives and find fulfillment.
Beyond clinical practice, she conducts workshops at conferences and guest lectures at universities, focusing her international art therapy experience. Her research interests explore the dual identity of the artist and art therapist, topics of intergenerational trauma, and ethical considerations when working in cross-cultural contexts. She is also an active member of the European Federation of Art Therapy (EFAT) on their conference committee and art therapy in museums special interest group.
Based between the U.S and Europe, Julia is passionate about the position of art therapy within the changing landscape of mental health. Her thought is “The world needs a space to heal, why not do it together and do it with art.”
