New Mexico Dependent License – Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

Hand in application ASAP (It takes up to 6 weeks to receive license, and you can’t practice until you receive your Temporary LMHC)

• Official Transcript
• Notarized Application
• Notarized Supervisor Form, “Experience Plan”

The temporary LMHC is good for 2 years, during which you either take your NCE or renew your temporary LMHC every 6 months.

If the applicant fails the first exam, the board will reschedule the applicant to re-take the examination and will re-issue a second temporary license.  If the applicant fails the exam a second time, the board may re-issue a third temporary license.  The applicant must provide proof of registration on a tutorial class.  The board will not issue more than three temporary licenses. $75 renewal each time.
