M.A. - Art Therapy for Clinical Professionals

at Southwestern College

The M.A. in Art Therapy for clinical professionals is a two year, distance program designed for those who have graduated with a M.A. in Counseling, a M.A. in Social Work or a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.

Art and Healing has been in existence from the beginning of humankind, and it does not take an artist to be an art therapist! We only need the six studio art classes as well as your Masters degree for this program. Some of the studio art can be taken concurrently with the program as well.

What many do not know is that there is coursework to be credentialed as an art therapist that entails ethics, multicultural art therapy, art therapy techniques, art therapy theories and so. There is a wealth of information on the field and this program will introduce you to the knowledge and skills needed to be a fully credentialed art therapist.
